Baby Sister’s Birthday.

Today is my little sister’s birthday, so last weekend I made her a card.  I gave her a Christmas stamp, a pad and a clear stamping block.  She enjoys scrapbooking and cardmaking, when she has the time!  Her hubby is a builder who builds, moves in, sells and so on!  So Helen spends her life packing and unpacking!

Father’s Day Card

In New Zealand we celebrate Father’s Day in the first Sunday in September.  I haven’t made a card for a long time. I have been so busy with teaching and just housecleaning and when I relax reading has my first choice.  However there is the added incentive when a celebration day comes along.  So yesterday I spent a little time making my 86 year old Dad a card.

He loves to feed the birds every morning, so again a card for him has a bird theme!  I’ve used a little stamp that belongs to the Peter Rabbit set.  I sent to England for this set, and to my dismay found it was unmounted.  And so another little learning curve there, on how do mount so that I can use it on my acrylic block.  Thank you You Tube posters!

A Card for a birthday.

Before I went off on holiday to Australia I made this card for a special birthday that was coming up.

Latest cards.

The weekend is usually when I can set aside some time for cardmaking.  Of course a sister’s birthday coming up is incentive to get going.  I also wanted to try out the Penny Black stamps that had arrived. I am pleased with the birthday card.  And the other one is a little notelet card that can be used for whatever little occasion arises, whenever!

Kobo ereader

A few weeks ago the Kobo ereader hit the New Zealand market.  I was fortunate to get one from the online store.  They sold out very quickly, and there were some disappointed customers who missed the first shipment.

I have wanted to obtain an ereader for sometime now.  And at last New Zealand gets one.  While I don’t travel that often it is good to know I can take a number of books, and very little space in my bag is required.

One of the main annoyances for me is that not all books can be bought as ebooks as the publishers have not allowed world wide rights.  This is so limiting.  It happens too when buying books from audible.com.  We just don’t have the same choice as our American counterparts.  While I have enough in the meantime to read on my ereader, I am often frustrated to find an ebook I want is not available for my part of the world.

A Day Off.

Today is a public holiday.  What bliss.  I made muffins, muesili and two cards.  One card is for my Dad’s birthday next Sunday, he is will be 86.  The pink card, I made to try out the cling dots.  The butterflies are off a ready made sheet and the sentiment I got in a magazine. It’s rather cute.  So a very productive day, back to work tomorrow.

Big Flower.

I  bought the big flower hero art stamp a little while back and then copied one of the suggestions for it.  Of course didn’t quite have all the exact materials, but then I guess it makes my card its individual self!  I like it, have not stamped any sentiment on it because then I can use it for whatever I need at the time, like birthday or get well etc.
