Here we celebrate Mother’s Day on the 8th of May. I have not made a single card this year. I lost the urge. However it was a wet cold day yesterday and at last I got my gear out and made a card. So I can tick that off my list.

2011 A New Year.

Well at the moment I am on holiday from teaching and that is wonderful!
I have bought a new camera an EOS Canon 550d, and its proving to be a learning curve for me. So some of my time and energy will be going into learning to use it and the Vegas studio software to edit videos. I bought it because it has an input for a mic. Little did I know at the time of buying there are issues with the external mic. I know a few guys have side stepped that, and solved it, but don’t know if I can. Might have to enlist help at some point.
I have been through a few qualms, why did I go in and buy it without some further research. Never mind its done now and the challenge is laid down to master it this year.
Cardmaking may go on hold for sometime as my time gets eaten up with new learning!
2011 intentions:
Learn to use a new camera.
Make some videos, with new to me software.
Enjoy books and audio books.
Make cards.
Watch more movies.
Follow the wisdom of the happiness project more in 2011.
Take time to meditate.
Read inspiring literature.
Update my teacher blog at least 2 -3 times a week.
Update this blog oftener.
Find a way to exercise if my foot problem doesn’t resolve itself. Sigh! Just when I was really into walking.

Last week Vicky posted a video of Let It Snow with a really cute snowmen card. Tomorrow I want to try it out with my 30 9 -11year olds class. Am I totally mad or what? I thought I had better try it out before I let them do it, so I could work out the pitfalls.

Inspite of having to start writing Reports for students I set some time aside to make a couple of cards. Not terribly satisfied with the product but the process was fun. I think the stamp would work better perhaps embossing it or printing straight onto the card, so will experiment a little more next weekend.

Baby Sister’s Birthday.

Today is my little sister’s birthday, so last weekend I made her a card. I gave her a Christmas stamp, a pad and a clear stamping block. She enjoys scrapbooking and cardmaking, when she has the time! Her hubby is a builder who builds, moves in, sells and so on! So Helen spends her life packing and unpacking!
Father’s Day Card

In New Zealand we celebrate Father’s Day in the first Sunday in September. I haven’t made a card for a long time. I have been so busy with teaching and just housecleaning and when I relax reading has my first choice. However there is the added incentive when a celebration day comes along. So yesterday I spent a little time making my 86 year old Dad a card.
He loves to feed the birds every morning, so again a card for him has a bird theme! I’ve used a little stamp that belongs to the Peter Rabbit set. I sent to England for this set, and to my dismay found it was unmounted. And so another little learning curve there, on how do mount so that I can use it on my acrylic block. Thank you You Tube posters!

The weekend is usually when I can set aside some time for cardmaking. Of course a sister’s birthday coming up is incentive to get going. I also wanted to try out the Penny Black stamps that had arrived. I am pleased with the birthday card. And the other one is a little notelet card that can be used for whatever little occasion arises, whenever!
